A CASE FOR MISSION FUNDING. Mission is an aspect of Christian activities that thrives on adequate support. Due to the nature of the field. It is practically impossible for those involved in mission work to self fund the operation because it requires a lot of focus, concentration, and time. It is quite understood that Apostle Paul had to work in certain places to help support himself and those with him. Mission operations in this age transcend just the needs of those running the mission but much more the needs of those being reached. Besides the legal frame structures in the time and days of Apostle Paul is quite different particularly for those involved in mission operations in foreign countries. Many countries forbids foreign missionaries to be involved in profit oriented ventures. Missionaries in this situation often find it so hard to function maximally, without distractions from missions and personal financial needs. Our emphasis of reaching people where they are, is financially demanding. We concentrate on the grassroots; ministering to them both the word of God and initial relevant supports needed to set them off on the path of productive living. We have had to support some to get back to school, many are on the list to be supported to get a trade going, quite a number are to be enrolled in artisan colleges to learn a skill. We organize training and seminars monthly at the grassroots besides our weekly meetings. We support a number of Children Homes with foodstuff on regularly basis; besides the high cost of reaching many of these homes situated on the outskirt of the cities. It costs so much to sort out and transport households items from people's residences. The cost of living in Nairobi is so high but we do our best to operate within the limit of God's provision. We however trust God to increase the flow of His provision, that the work of reaching the world with His word and love will become easier in the coming year, that our energy can be rightly directed towards the real assignment and not chasing funds. This is why we plead for partners who would commit to consistent support, as we also concentrate on the assignment. |
